That's hilarious. I could just see Dermit going in the house, then going over to bell all proud as if saying, "Hey dad, look what I can do" Laughing

My neighbor is doing that right now with her new pup (whom I let out twice a day). She has bells hanging from the door that Ruffy always goes out to do his business. When I go over to let him out, I get him out of the kennel and we walk to the door. I bend down and help him hit the bell with his front paw and say "Bang the bell". Now, we can go to the door and I just have to say "bang the bell" and he does and out we go. Michelle says that Ruffy will go bang the bell by himself to go outside although sometimes it is just because he wants to play outside and also she says sometimes he gets it backwards.....he has an accident in the house and then he will run to the door and bang the bell lol! I think it is a pretty nifty idea, although I have not did it with any of my dogs.

yup, pretty much. I can't take much of the training credit though, at the time we had a cocker spanial, who learned this within a week or less, and our greyhound must of caught on from her. but there was no time for a treat when they have to go out and potty, they really got to go fast. So At first I would ginggle the bells, than I would start putting their paw on the bells before going out.

Oh, what a great idea. How did you do that? Did you tap the bell with their foot, then give them a treat to reaffirm, then let them out?
